Zimbabwean war veterans threaten war
By Wilson Watson
HARARE, Zimbabwe- Militant Zimbabwe freedom fighters have threatened to go back to war if there is any country or force that wants to remove President Robert Mugabe or ZANU PF from power.
War veteran leader Jabulani Sibanda said people must understand that the independence of 1980 did not stop the war hence the war veterans were still eager to go back  and fight for our country.
He said: “We must understand that in 1980 there was ceasefire and what it means is that it was stopping firing of guns and not the war. If there is any need all we need is to re-activate the war since it has always been there,” he said.
Sibanda said war veterans could not stand aside and watch while President Mugabe was being ridiculed by the world.
He said during the liberation struggle the war veterans ‘defeated’ the colonialists using the same weapons available today and in an event of a war, they will still win.
“We defeated the British in the war when they had the same equipment they have today. They had the planes but we still defeated them and even today, we will do the same if they start a war. The only profession we know is to kill counter-revolutionists.”
He added when war veterans kill ‘counter-revolutionists’, it was only a crime “on earth but not a sin in heaven as God protects those who protect themselves’
Sibanda described MDC leader’s victory in the March elections as a “victory done by calculators and not by the will of the people.”
When the will of the people finally came, you saw what happened during the run-off.
He said people must understand that 27 June elections had a special meaning in President Mugabe.
“People do not even know the secret behind 27, it is the 9. If you add 2 and 7 you get 9. Nine is the only number that does not change. If you multiply 9 by 4 you get 36 and if you add the two numbers they give you nine. Nine does not change and President Mugabe is Zimbabwe’s 9. Even if you want to change him he will remain the same as the ruler of this country.”
The war veterans leader was also behind the terror campaign towards elections that resulted in a number of people loosing their lives.
War veterans set up bases in most rural areas, which they were using, to toacher people suspected to be MDC supporters.
Due to the violence from the war veterans, Tsvangirai pulled out of the election but Mugabe proceeded with the election, declaring himself winner barely 48 hours after.
All local and international observers who witnessed the elections described them as not free and fair.
